Dos and Dont's of Blood Donation

DO DONATE BLOOD IF....

  • You are between 18 - 60.
  • Your weight is 45kg or more.
  • Your heamoglobin is 12.5gm% or more.
  • Your last blood donation was atleast three months earlier.
  • You are healthy and have not recently suffered from Jaundice, Malaria, Typhoid and other transmissible diseases.
  • DON'T DONATE BLOOD IF....

  • You had a major surgeory in last 6 months.
  • You are a heart patient or suffer from high blood pressure, epilepsy or diabetes.
  • You have a history of cancer, anaemia or bleeding.
  • You have a cold or fever in the last week.
  • You have received a vaccination in last 24 hours.
  • You are on antibiotics or any other medication.
  • You have had alcohol wihin 24 hours.
  • You have had a miscarriage in last 6 months; are pregnant; or have breast-fed in the last 1 year.
