How to Donate Blood

PREPARATIONS BEFORE DONATING BLOOD

  • Have enough rest and sleep (Minimum 6 hours).
  • No alcohol intake 24 hours prior donating blood.
  • No medications intake for at least 24 hours prior donating blood.
  • Make sure you have eaten, but avoid fatty food.
  • Drink plenty of fluids, like water or juice.
  • STEPS IN DONATING BLOOD

  • Check your weight and Register the donor registration form.
  • Attend counselling session
  • Have your blood type and hemoglobin checked.
  • Routine Medical Examination by Physician
  • Donate blood if found fit and healthy
  • The amount of blood to be extrated (Either 350 ML or 450ML) will depend on donor's weight and blood pressure. It usually takes 10 minutes or less
  • A 7 to 10 minute rest and plenty of fluid intake are necessary after donation.
