A pint of blood is drawn from donor.

Blood is collected and labeled in a sterile bag.

Blood screened for HIV, Hepatitis,
Malaria
Blood seperated into components such as
Packed Red Blood Cells,
Fresh Frozen Plasma and
Platelets.


Blood is tested to ensure it is safe for transfusion.
Blood products are stored and ready for transfusion. Platelets expires in 5 days, Packed Red Cells in 42 days, Fresh Frozen Plasma in 2 years


Local hospitals place orders for blood based on specific needs.


Blood is transfused to patients. 1 blood donation has the potential to save 3 lives

Criteria for Blood Donation

Age : 18 to 60 years
Weight : 45Kgs & above
Determination of hemoglobin : Hb: > 12.5g%/dl
Pulse : 50-100 beats / min
Blood Pressure : 100/60 to 140/100mm Hg
Temperature : Maximum37.5°C
HB : 12.5g % Upto 17.0gm
Interval between each donation : 3 Months
